The Green Bazaar in Almaty
The Green Bazaar is the second largest market in Central Asia. A person who goes to this bazaar can buy anything that he wants and needs. For instance, if you wanto to buy meat, go to the meat section, which has five lines: beef, pork, pultry, horse, and lamb. When my friend, who is from America, visited the meat section for the first time, he was suprised to see that there was no refrigeration. I explained to him that meat was always fresh because the animals were slaughtered and sold on the same day. Kazakhs like eating meat, and usually meat is sold on the same day. Also, I like the section where I can buy dried apricots, raisins, and nuts. Much of the apricots, raisins, and nuts come from Iran, Uzbekistan, and Tadjikistan. It is always crowded in this section since Kazakhs prefer to serve dried apricots, raisins, and nuts on special occasions. Local Korean women sell Korean salads of carrots and noodles. These salads are very popular in Kazakhstan. They always offer sample. When I am in Almaty, I like to have fresh meat, vegatables and fruits only from Green Bazaar, and I am sure that it is organic food. Besides, it is interesting to talk with sales people and negotiate. In other words, the main bazaar of Almaty brings to life the finest traditions of the Asian bazaar.

Do you guys eat horses in your country? Where are you from Gulzhan? Horses have a lot of muscle, so the meat may be so hard and tough, isn't it?
