"Romeria"

HI! During October in Jalisco, Mexico, we have parties called "Fiestas de Octubre." During this time we celebrate our lady, Our lady of Zapopan. This is a religion celebration. On Octuber 12 each year, we celebrate that she is the queen from Jalisco. We celebrate her because she is a virgin like our Virgin of Guadalupe.

Our lady of Zapopan is in the "Catedral de Guadalajara"(Capital of Jaliso).
This "Catedral" is like a huge Church. People come from different cities, states, and countries. Over 2 million people come to see Our Lady.

Our Lady travels and visis churches until she arrives in the "Basilica de Zapopan." People celebrate with music, praying, dancing, and singing. We began to celebrate in 1734, and it is one of the oldest celebrations in Jalisco. People sale the Virgin's picture, rings, paints, etc. Also, there are people who sale food. Sometime people walk in knees for a miracle. All this is called the "Romeria." It is good time to celebrate with our family and friends.

  2. I heard one time about the Virgin of Zapopan, but I didn't know where she was from. I just want to make clear something about the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Virgin of Zapopan. Both of the Virgins are the same. In the world is only one Virgin but with differents names.:}It's a good celebration where all our families can enjoy.!!!!!! :}
